![]() These new territories provide ample resource to feed and fund Octavian’s loyal veterans, and his control of Rome – with a Senate purged of dissenters – places him in a prime position to manipulate Marc Antony and Lepidus to his own ends. In a game with ‘Rome’ in its title, you would expect Rome: Total War to do it justice- and it surely delivers. Victory at Philippi legitimised the Triumvirate and led to a new distribution of territory from which Octavian benefited at the passive Lepidus’ expense. Introduction: Rome, considered by many as the most successful empire to ever grace the Earth and the birthplace of many brilliant generals, including Julius Caesar and Scipio Africaanus. Though the lands he acquired emphasised his junior status, it was Octavian who marched with Mark Antony to confront Caesar’s killers – Brutus and Cassius – in the east. Octavian sensed the precariousness of his position however, and met with Mark Antony and Lepidus to form the three-way dictatorship known as the Second Triumvirate. Yes, but only against other Empire Divided factions. Their fealty enabled Octavian to press ahead and enact edicts which outlawed his father’s murderers, reward the troops and proclaim himself Consul. The senate then attempted to put Caesar’s legions into the hands of his very killers, but the soldiers’ loyalty to Octavian dictated events. Fearing a power-play from Marc Antony, they empowered him with the legal authority to intervene. The Senate expressed little interest in observing the dead dictator’s will, but when Mark Antony’s anger and thirst for power boiled over into a direct attack on Brutus, the Senate took note of Octavian’s popularity with his father’s troops. This does not appear to happen to later faction leaders through succession or adoption, only the initial leader.Shortly before his death, Julius Caesar adopted young Octavian as his son and heir. – As many other mod creators have discovered, the wives of faction leaders made playable through mods frequently die after a few turns. This also means that, just like Aurelian’s Rome, the Aurelian factions (Egypt, Numidia, Mauretania, Galatia, and Lydia) cannot trigger a civil war until the Roman Pretenders faction is defeated. ![]() Needless to say, though, it is a lot of work. However, if you are referring to M2TW, Mythic can be of more help to you there. In the case of M2TW I believe this is possible, as the hardcode only extends to how many factions are playable. In multiplayer co-op this means you and your buddy will share a secession or civil war if you are both playing together as Gallic Rome or Aurelian factions. There are hardcodes in place which limit the number of factions to 21, including rebels. Be sure to suggest your picks in the comments Top 5 Best factions in Rome 2 multiplayer battles Add me on Steam 'TW Zone'. – The secession and civil war factions for the client states are the same as those for the Gallic Empire and Aurelian’s Rome (depending on the client state). I will release the following video next week. The Gallic Rome client states (Britannia, Hispania, and Lusitania) can all recruit auxiliary units however. In the spirit of keeping things vanilla, I have not changed this. ![]() – In the vanilla campaign, Mauretania has an extremely limited roster and the Aurelian client states (Egypt, Numidia, Mauretania, Galatia, and Lydia) cannot recruit auxiliary units. I prefer vanilla, so these factions are exactly as they appear in the campaign–no faction effects or expanded rosters. These factions are complete with political parties, family trees, secessions, civil wars, victory conditions, and are all playable for co-op and custom battles. This is a small mod to make all the Roman client states in the Empire Divided campaign playable (Britannia, Hispania, Lusitania, Egypt, Numidia, Mauretania, Galatia, and Lydia).
